The Czech Series… a series of a few Czech songs where the premise was that I play a few of the old Czech songs, but each on a different accordion. Well… I am starting off 2024 a little on the down side… I had decided to try to start this project a touch before Christmas thinking that on January 1st I’d have something to post… that did not happen.
For the very first time in my life on the accordion that I can remember, I am actually struggling to play. I don’t know if it is age or of it is the brutal work schedule or just everything lumped together, but in that sense of being able to play songs that are typically easy, it is challenging me to play the song as well as I normally would… and I am scared. I don’t want to lose my ability to play, it is so inherent within me that it almost in a very real mental way, is me. This song is telling me that I am losing it.
As a test I tried making a fast test video, and I can see the struggling that’s not usually there. Embarrassing as it is, here is that test video:
I didn’t have to post that here, but I want that memory preserved, the first time I felt that struggle inside and out. I’ll try to not to let it get to me and continue to work on the project, just letting it take the time it needs, I suppose. Maybe it is something that will pass or maybe it is the beginning of the slide down…. time will tell.
I’ll post the final result here or on another post once done.
