ShokZ!

A few weeks ago, my sister and I were in Costco shopping for some necessities and while in line my sister spotted a guy with a headset that was apparently working but not covering his ears.  She went to talk to the guy and he mentioned what they were and how they worked, she seemed impressed!

I of course, knew what they were as I had seen similar ones often enough around the neck of my friend Jeff during our Zoom calls.

While doing some research on them and found the Shokz Openmeet units were just the thing that would make my life more convenient, so I placed them in my list on Amazon and was going to get them for Christmas.  Funny thing, my sister and I use my niece’s Amazon Prime to save on shipping costs and get next day delivery and though she has never done it before, she was curious and looked at my list.  Normally it is empty, but this time I had a couple of screw adapters and the Openmeets in there.

Being who she is, she didn’t say anything just ordered the headset and the adapters… and then told me what she had done… sort of.  I was happy about the adapters but when I saw the 2nd box, I was surprised even more… very nice and they are something that I will use in many ways… around the house, outside, and mostly, I think they will work best when I am driving in my Corvette!

Thanks very very much ‘Sis, I will definitely enjoy using the adapters as they permit me to use my small condenser mics on tiny tripod selfie-sticks, but I love the early birthday present of the Shokz headset, they sound great!

I set them up as a bluetooth device on my computer and Voicemeeter promptly let me use them as an output device so that I can use them as a headset on Zoom Meeting sessions.  Of course by selecting them as the speaker/mic setup in zoom meeting I can use them outside of the mixer environment for those days that I want a barebones simple setup that sounds good just with my voice.

Yesterday was the first chance I had to use them in my Corvette and they worked flawlessly.  Calls went out and I was told I sound natural and no car noises were heard, I sounded as if I was in a quiet room.  My Corvette is not quiet, so that pleased me.  They also surprised me by being loud enough at 50% to 75% of full volume and sound of people calling me AND music I was hearing through the headset was clear and audible.  I tired my GPS app and the voice giving directions was crystal clear.

Very Nice!!
