Provenance <noun>: the place of origin or earliest known history of an item.
Let’s talk a little bit about provenance, in my case a little bit of the stories about the origins of a few specific accordions in my collection.
In September 2024 when I was in Germany, I paid a small fee to Hohner and in return they provided a little something back to me that has a bit of sentimental value to me… delivery certificates that hold a little info on four of my Hohner accordions. What Hohner requested, along with the fee, were the images, make, model and serial numbers of these units. That meant that when I came to the factory for the visit, they went to work gathering the info and printing out a special page per accordion and have that ready for me the moment that I walked through the door.
To see the certificates in their own page a little larger, click on the photo of the certificate.
The certificates and accordions:
The Hohner FB 36, my little red Free Bass accordion
Hohner Imperator V
Hohner Morino VI N
Hohner Gola 459
I have since then, bought 4 frames and hung them next to where I have the shelves where all the accordions sit. Click on the picture above to see a larger version of this pic.
Every one of my accordions has a story, and I am happy to have a little extra piece of info for this part of my very special collection
Enjoy!
