Last year I had a case that developed a smell of mold a little. When I first got it, it was there, so I right away high-pressure washed it, sprayed it several times liberally with Fabreeze and left it in the direct sun for days. That solved it for the most part, but now it has a smell of fabreeze and LIGHT mold.
My sister suggested a possibly great solution… in the dollar store is a small container that is specifically made to address smoke, mold and other bad smells from objects and rooms. It is also super cheap at $1.50 per container… my sister picked up 3 for me, two for odours and one for smoke. Clicking on any of the pics below, it will open up in a separate tab.
Personally, I think they are the same thing, but I placed on in the case to see what it does to the scent in that case already now. They are supposed to be good for areas up to 300 sq/ft in size.
Here I opened one up and placed it in the case:
I placed on in the bottom of the case and closed it. I’ll check it out in a couple days and update this post.

Well, it removed the rest of whatever was in there… leaving just a faint smell of peppermint, so I really like this. By the time I got to testing this, there was not much bad smell left to really play with, so I don’t know how well it would do on a really seriously bad smelling case or accordion, but I would definitely not be afraid to try it out. This stuff was a pleasant surprise and definitely worth the consideration if I ever needed something like this again.
Enjoy!
